Returning to the 10th #YearInReview2024 #breastcancer conference is always a pleasure! Delivered a concise talk on de-escalation of therapy in breast cancer. Particularly in #breastcancersurgery . We know that #cancersurgery has a fair amount of #sideeffects. And there's been tremendous progress towards reducing the side effects and morbidity of breast cancer surgery. We now perform #BreastConservingSurgery in more than 80% of our patients, adding #oncoplasticsurgery where cosmesis is to be redone. The patient goes home in a day and is back to full mobility in a few hours post procedure. Also attended the "Women in Oncology" meeting, aimed at addressing the disparities in opportunities and challenges faced by women practicing in the field of oncology, spearheaded by my mentors Dr Shona Nag and Dr Nita Nair, amongst others.
